Terms of Service
§ 1 Scope
These Terms of Service apply to the use of the chess platform reiterchess (hereinafter "Platform") operated by Philipp Reiter (hereinafter "Provider").
By registering for and using the Platform, you accept these Terms as binding.
§ 2 Services
2.1 Free Services
The Provider offers the following free services:
- Unlimited play (all time controls: Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, Classical)
- Basic analysis (Stockfish.wasm in browser)
- Daily puzzles (limited amount)
- Participation in tournaments
- User profiles with statistics
2.2 Premium Services
For a fee, the Provider offers the following premium features:
- Ad-free usage
- Unlimited puzzles
- Advanced analysis (server engine)
- Opening Explorer
- Game Review (AI coach)
- Insights & Statistics
- Premium support
- Cosmetics (boards, pieces)
The Provider reserves the right to change the range of services. Material changes will be communicated to users at least 4 weeks in advance.
§ 3 Registration and Account
3.1 Registration
Registration is required to use the Platform. The user must:
- Be at least 13 years old
- Provide a valid email address
- Provide truthful information
For users under 16, consent of a parent or guardian is required.
3.2 Account Security
The user is responsible for the security of their login credentials and agrees to:
- Keep login credentials confidential
- Notify the Provider immediately of suspected misuse
- Create only one account per person
3.3 Account Suspension and Termination
The Provider may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Cheating or attempted manipulation
- Abusive behavior
- Prolonged inactivity (after 24 months)
§ 4 Rules of Conduct and Fair Play
4.1 Prohibited Actions
The following are prohibited in particular:
- Use of chess engines or external assistance during games
- Manipulation of games or tournaments
- Creation of multiple accounts (multi-accounting)
- Insults, discrimination, or harassment of other users
- Spam or unauthorized advertising
- Technical manipulation of the Platform
4.2 Anti-Cheat Measures
The Provider analyzes moves for fraud detection. In case of suspected cheating:
- Warning and temporary suspension
- Deletion of ratings and achievements
- Permanent ban for repeated violations
- Exclusion from tournaments
The user has the right to respond and appeal.
§ 5 Premium Subscription
5.1 Prices and Payment
Premium subscription:
- Monthly: €4.99/month
- Yearly: €49.99/year
All prices include statutory VAT. Payment is processed via Stripe (credit card, PayPal, etc.).
5.2 Term and Cancellation
The subscription automatically renews for the booked term unless cancelled.
Cancellation:
- Monthly subscription: anytime at the end of the month
- Yearly subscription: anytime at the end of the year
Cancellation is done through account settings or by email to the Provider.
5.3 Right of Withdrawal
Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from contract conclusion.
If digital content is immediately accessible, the right of withdrawal expires early if:
- The user expressly agrees that performance begins before the withdrawal period expires
- The user confirms that they lose their right of withdrawal once performance begins

§ 6 Copyright and Usage Rights
6.1 Platform Content
Content created by the Provider (design, code, texts, graphics) is protected by copyright. Use outside the Platform is not permitted.
6.2 User-generated Content
By uploading content (games, comments, puzzles), you grant the Provider a simple, non-exclusive, worldwide usage right for:
- Storage and display on the Platform
- Technical processing (analysis, engine evaluation)
- Display in public areas (leaderboards, tournaments)
You remain the author of your content. Chess games and moves are public domain.
§ 7 Liability
7.1 Provider Liability
The Provider is fully liable for:
- Intent or gross negligence
- Injury to life, body, or health
- Under product liability law
For simple negligence, the Provider is liable only for breach of material contractual obligations. Liability is limited to typical foreseeable damages.
7.2 No Skill Guarantee
The Provider does not guarantee the accuracy of ELO ratings or the playing strength of opponents. Ratings are estimates and may fluctuate.
§ 8 Data Protection
The Provider complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Further information can be found in the Privacy Policy.
§ 9 Changes to Terms
The Provider reserves the right to change these Terms. Material changes will be communicated to users at least 4 weeks in advance by email. If the user does not agree, they may terminate the contract.
§ 10 Final Provisions
10.1 Jurisdiction
For disputes arising from this contract, the court at the Provider's place of business has jurisdiction if the user is a consumer with residence in the EU.
10.2 Applicable Law
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
10.3 Severability Clause
Should individual provisions of these Terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.
10.4 Dispute Resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR): . We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
